About Matteria

Matteria is the living story of two friends with different backgrounds, designer Monica and design management consultant Anu, coming together with the shared ideal of giving light to products made of ecological materials.

After investigating in the field through internet and by networking with journalists and other eco-design activists they found that good product concepts existed as well as the potential market for them, but lacked an efficient retail channel in Europe.

Anu Suominen:
Graduated from Turku School of Economics (FI), and moved to Barcelona in 2002 to work in marketing for Polar Electro. She returned to Finland in 2005 to complete a Masters in design management. She started a company called CONANU, coordinating design management projects for companies with the desire to reach full potential from their industrial design products.

Monica Potvin:
Shortly after graduating from Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY) in interior design, she created the company FABRIQUE in 2001, a New York City firm where core activities derived from high-end residential design, complemented by commercial contracts such as restaurants and night clubs. Now based in Barcelona since 2004, has since received a masters in urbanism from the Instituto de Arquitectura Avanzada de Cataluņa and further professional activities consist mainly in sustainable design and development.
