Forests play a central role in the world’s environmental and economic health, and yet they are not adequately protected. Illegal and unsustainable logging takes place on a large scale in many key areas, driven by demand for cheap timber and paper products.

Matteria only sells wood products that come from certified sources (e.g FSC label), or are made of reclaimed or recycled wood.

The magnetic notice boards are designed by Mia Battilana for KotonaDesign. It all started from a left-over case in a workshop of a carpenter she knew. She was allowed to take as much left-over wood pieces with her as she was able to carry. And wasn’t she able!

Wooden material which was meant to be burned found its way to useful products on refrigerator doors and notice boards.

The notice boards are a combined magnetic- and whiteboard. There are many colours available and they alter yearly. The boards are available in many different sizes and they all have frames made of plywood.

Wood is a very resistant material and can be reused in a number of ways. Many organizations also collect wood for recycling. Wood is also biodegradable.
