Organic farming means producing fibers and clothing with less or even without toxic chemicals. Requiring more time and skill.
WOOL
In organic wool farming the sheep are bred under biodynamic control. The soaps and spinnings oils used are bio-degrable. The wool is not super-washed and no moth repellents are used. The dyes used do not contain heavy metals.
Tina Ratzer is one of Denmark’s leading textile artists naturally developing a singular language in her design field. Always sustainable she takes great care in sourcing 100 % organic Australian, biodynamic merino wool to achieve the softest and most stunning results.
“Regardless of whether it’s a large wall-hanging or a little baby blanket, the process always involves simplification, removing and refining until I achieve the proper expression”, she says. She finds great inspiration in switching between commission work and blanket development, complementing each other since she gets her inspiration for both types of work from buildings and their graphic outlines.
Recently Ratzer has become a member of the Gallery DeCraftig, a coalition of fourteen of Denmark’s most renowned textile designers. Furthermore she has entered into joint ventures, both with groups of architects regarding ornamentation assignments, and with a producer of ceramic tiles, for whom she will be creating colour schemes.

The sheep are bred under biodynamic control. The soaps and spinnings oils used are bio-degrable. The wool is not super-washed and no moth repellents are used. The dyes used do not contain heavy metals. The textile is woven, then milled without soap in cold water only. The sewing thread is 100% cotton, the label is 100% polyester, both in Eco-Tex standard 100.
The product should be treated like a lovely woollen sweater.

Old clothes and textiles that are suitable for reuse can be recycled in charity shops or placed in clothes recycling bins.
Textile waste that is not suitable for reuse is first sorted by type, colour and grade. The material is then shredded into fibers. High grade shoddy is mixed with virgin fiber and spun into new fiber. Low grade shoddy will be recycled as wipes, stuffing for cushions, carpet underlay, mattress padding and cotton swabs.
