Inside the jar are a highly efficient solar cell, rechargeable battery and low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in sunlight the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. This energy is then used at night to power the three LED lamps inside the jar.
Energy efficient for Matteria means an electrical product that represents innovative thinking by using renewable energy (e.g. solar energy) or energy saving technologies (e.g. LED lights).
art=idea=Tobias Wong
Tobias Wong, originally from Canada now lives and creates in New York. A sculpture graduate of Cooper Union NY works as a conceptual designer blurring the lines between art & design. Not merely conceptual, his work mocks its own consumption. Charming us with his attitude; it's art maybe its design, the point is we are talking about it, so it must be relevant! He's coined the term “paraconceptual” to describe his dismantling of the hierarchies between “art” and “design”. The extraodinary thing about it is his concepts find themselves in everyday consumable objects for living. Available to all!

Unfortunately, most electronic device are problem waste and must be taken to an appropriate recycling center for reuse and disposal.
Bring on the sunshine!
Yah, this one is for those of you who just cant get enough.
This ubber cool invention by Tobias Wong charges during the day in the sunlight and lights up at night. Made with a traditional sandblasted Mason jar and high tech energy efficient lighting! The effect is awesome!
The glowing jar is reminiscent of the day's sunlight and lets you bask and dream a little longer... Makes a great garden light, beach light or night light for the children.
